External Reporting Manager

Closing Date: 14th February 2024  JOB DECRIPTION Bath Spa University are currently seeking an External Reporting Manager to lead on boundary spanning projects, optimising how student data is processed, and develop line management experience. About the Role As External Reporting Manager you will ensure that the institution’s statutory reporting requirements for student data are met throughout the year. Guided by the strategic direction provided by the Head of Statutory Returns, you will lead on the accurate and efficient operational delivery of these reports, as well as managing operational activities related to the production of student statutory returns, ensuring compliance with the Office for Students and Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) requirements. Collaborating closely with departments such as IT Services and Finance, you will guarantee timely availability of necessary data and maintain data quality. The role involves identifying innovative approaches to enhance data collection and implementing automation for process improvements. With a focus on analysis, you will address complex issues and provide effective solutions. In addition you will deputise for the Head of Statutory Returns as needed and will oversee the line management of Data & Insights Officers, including their induction, ongoing management, and development. About You You will possess a degree or equivalent experience, with a strong background in systems management within a large and complex organisational structure. Significant administrative experience, coupled with advanced data analysis skills, are essential. You will have a proven track record of working with large databases, extracting and analysing data, and presenting findings to diverse audiences. Direct and matrix line management experience, coupled with strong leadership and adaptability in a fast-changing environment, will be crucial within this role, as are proficiency in MS Office products, particularly expert-level Excel. You will easily demonstrate excellent attention to detail, awareness of best practices, and have outstanding communication skills, whilst being a proactive leader with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and be an effective part of the team.
