Job Description:

The F-35 Support Equipment (SE) Field Engineer will be responsible for providing technical advice and guidance on all F-35 SE. In this role, selected candidate will be expected to:

  • Be a self-starter, work without direct supervision.

  • Integrate into a high tempo military operational environment.

  • Provide engineering and support equipment maintenance guidance to military and civilian maintainers and depot technicians and engineers with confidence and authority.

  • Coordinate with item managers, engineers, customers and suppliers to resolve equipment issues involving safety, usability, reliability and availability.

  • Review engineering data to determine correct support equipment configuration and to identify or help define design deficiencies.

  • Document maintenance activities, collate data to identify emerging failure trends and provide recommendations to reduce equipment down time, improve maintenance practices and advise on maintenance tasks.

  • Identify technical issues and recommend solutions to support engineering disposition process and technical data updates.

  • Manage, track multiple engineering and logistic support activities, and provide periodic status to customers and program management team.

  • Provide authorized engineering products to supplement published engineering technical data.

  • Combine engineering knowledge with real world maintenance experience.

  • Must be knowledgeable of industrial and aircraft maintenance safety standards.

  • Conduct training and provide product briefings to customers, vendors, and company representatives.

  • Support program technical interchange meetings and program plans development relating to problem analysis, engineering dispositions and in-house technical support.

  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills and engage with military service maintainers on a regular basis to resolve maintenance issues that would otherwise lead to equipment downtime.

  • Work any shift, weekends, overtime and holidays, if necessary, as well as travel on Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY's) to support program requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Field Engineer: Must have a HS Diploma or a GED and 9 years of F-35 SE experience, Will consider a bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years of F-35 SE experience; Or, a master's degree with 3 years of F-35 SE experience.

  • Sr. Principal Field Engineer: Must have a HS Diploma or a GED and 13 years of F-35 SE experience, Will consider a bachelor’s degree and minimum of 9 years of F-35 SE experience; Or, a master's degree with 7 years of F-35 SE experience.

  • Intermediate proficiency of Microsoft Office tools.

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

  • Have a current DOD Secret security clearance and ability to obtain a Special Access Program clearance.

  • Ability to expatriate to international location for minimum of 1 year.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Field support or prior military experience.

  • Working knowledge of engineering tools.

Salary Range: $80,600 - $121,000
Salary Range 2: $99,900 - $149,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
