Job description

Excel Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Facilities Assistant on a permanent full-time basis, based in the Holywood area with a starting salary of £27,514 per year and staff benefits.


Our client has a global reach in the Social Care sector, offering a wide range of services that support Adults and Children with learning disabilities. This client also has an impressive site with facilities and views that truly must be seen to be believed.

This role also offers a Mon - Fri, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm shift pattern, with "on-call" responsibilities on a rota basis. There may be instances where you'll need to cover evenings, weekends and holidays if required.

Responsibilities:

With a full copy of the Job Duties and Person Spec available on request, you will:

  • Provide essential support to the Facilities Manager and have a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and upkeep of the facility, as well as overseeing the maintenance team.
  • Work alongside the Facilities Manager with the delivery of day-to-day operations, providing comprehensive support and communication to ensure staff and resident needs are met while adhering to safety and regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in coordinating activities for the maintenance team, assisting with training, appraisal preparation, staff evaluation and ensuring the functionality and safety of the physical environment.
  • Be required to carry out "on-call" out-of-hours responder duties on a rota basis and liaise with staff and also contractors on-site.

Requirements:

  • HNC in Building or similar; vocational training or certification in facilities management, maintenance or related field.
  • GCSE Maths and English; Grade C minimum.
  • 2 years minimum experience in maintenance management, preferably in a healthcare or social care setting.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical equipment, building systems, electrical, IT and maintenance best practices.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; verbal and written with strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • IT proficient in computer applications for maintenance and management reporting.
  • Able to solve problems, be solution minded and can work individually and as part of a team.
  • Flexible to cover the "on-call" rota and also cover evenings, weekends and holidays if needed.
