Experienced Mechanical or Electrical Facilities and Building Maintenance Engineer required for a prestigious client based in Plymouth. Reporting to the Engineering Manager the successful candidate will be working within a truly unique environment, carrying out planned and preventative maintenance on Facilities and Building M&E. This is an interesting and varied Engineering role within a great working environment! Candidates who apply for this position must have the immediate right to work in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reactive Maintenance on building services and facilities including Life Support Systems.
  • Working on 3 phase motors and pumps.
  • HVAC and Building Maintenance and electrical installation.
  • Fault finding on Electrical Control Panels (PLC’s).
  • Working on Pneumatic and Manual valves.
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance on Building services and facilities.
  • Assist the FM & Senior M&E Engineers by carrying out delegated tasks to ensure that the buildings, estate and facilities are maintained cost effectively to a high standard via Computer Aided Facilities Maintenance software (CAFM), regular site inspections and reactive response maintenance throughout the facility.
  • Assist the FM & Senior M&E Engineers in ensuring that all equipment is maintained in good working order in accordance with maintenance schedules and manufacturers’ O&M manuals.
  • Ensure all areas of the site are fit for purpose and maintained to a high standard expected by our customers, clients and staff
  • To provide, an out-of-hours emergency response service (on-call rota) and ensure actions are communicated to the FM and team.
  • To act, when delegated by the FM, as primary contact for staff communications in the event of an emergency

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Candidate attributes required:

  • Ideally be qualified to a minimum of NVQ3 in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering time served 3 year apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • For Mechanical Engineers – Knowledge and experience of working on HVAC Systems coupled with knowledge and experience of working on pneumatic / manual valves / Mechanical Seals / Pumps / Fans etc.
  • For Electrical Engineers – Knowledge and experience of fault finding using ladder logic on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s).
  • A good appreciation of H&S requirements associated with building and plant maintenance.
  • Work at Height, Confined Space, Electricity at Work, L8, F-Gas Regs.
  • A positive attitude.

The successful candidate will be working a 3 on 3 off day shift pattern of 07:00 to 18:00 including weekends and Bank Holidays. The engineering team provide an out of hours emergency response service which involves maintaining life support systems, therefore is is essential that the successful candidate lives within a 30 minute commute to the company.
