What is the Facilities Management Apprenticeship:

Come and join EDF as a core member of the Renewables team, you will join us as a Facilities Management apprentice Field Contract Supervisor. You will have the opportunity to study through a Merlin Training and gain a Level 3Facilities Management diploma and become a chartered member of The Institute of Workplace Facilities Management (IWFM). This 18-month programme will be delivered via blended learning and will combine a mixture of daily business activities alongside the specified course delivery plan.  

You will become the focal person who is responsible for the day-to-day implementation and delivery of a wide range of field and desk-based initiatives relating to the upkeep, maintenance and improvement of civils, building infrastructure and adjoining grounds maintenance, whilst also supporting the Facilities Management function in statutory compliance, hard and soft service delivery. The role provides a focal point to ensure that the general upkeep and maintenance of the sites meet EDF’s health and safety standards and comply with the most current legislation. To ensure all site deliverables provide value for money, are within budget at the right quality and on time.

Training, development and support for you:  

This is an opportunity to build a lifelong career and gain valuable knowledge, experience and development in a hands on role within the renewables sector. You’ll get plenty of support along the way to help you manage your studies alongside your role on site and you’ll enjoy plenty of opportunities to get involved in meaningful and challenging work once your studies are underway.  

Once you’ve completed the scheme, you’ll have both qualifications and experience within EDF; that means you’ll be in the best possible position to continue your career. You could also progress within EDF-Renewables of EDF Energy moving over to departments such as project management, construction management, asset management. The future is yours for the taking! 

Where you’ll work:  

You will be expected to be located within driving distance of our Houghton-le-spring office to work alongside the team. You will also be expected to travel and work throughout the UK once you have joined the team.  

To join our team you’ll need:  

  • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s at Grade 4/C or above (grade A- C for Scottish National 5) or equivalent, including Maths and English. 
  • A passion for engineering in the renewable energy industry. 
  • Having an innovative and problem solving mindset and strong collaboration practice. 
  • Effective communication skills will be required to manage your internal and external stakeholders. 
  • You'll have the ability to work in a team and independently, as well as being able to balance the responsibilities of study and work. 
  • Ideally, due to the remote locations of some of our service centres, you should also hold or be willing to work towards gaining a valid UK driving license. 

Our Assessment Centre will be held on Thursday the 25th of April. The location will be confirmed closer to the time.
