Family Court Adviser (Social Worker)
£46,435 - £51,217 including London weighting
Across London
We are recruiting for the role of Family Court Advisor in both our Public and Private Law teams working across London based either from our Gray’s Inn Road or Croydon offices.
However, as our teams work flexibly and remotely your proximity to a Cafcass office does not always have to be a critical consideration as we trust and empower colleagues to work in a hybrid way, providing the resources, equipment and support to enable this.
Prior to applying, as well as reading the formal job description, you will also be able to find out more about how you can be the voice of children and young people when the Family Court makes critical decisions about their futures. You may also be interested in finding out more about the range of health and wellbeing support available for colleagues, as well as excellent benefits we offer.
We are also hosting an online event that you can find out more about and register for if you click through to our recruitment system.
Let us tell you a bit more about the role…
In the Public Law team, you will be involved with cases where the local authority has serious concerns about the safety or welfare of a child and the court requests for Cafcass to become involved in the case. Family Court Advisers working in Public Law are often known as Children’s Guardians.
In the Private Law team, you’ll use your social work skills and experience to understand what the child needs, wants and feels. You’ll then advise the Family Courts on the best course of action for the child by providing confident, powerful and succinct written case analysis and make recommendations to the court. You’ll also attend court and be an advocate for the child, ensuring their voice is not lost.
… and what we’re looking for.
Being a Family Court Adviser is very rewarding – but it’s not for everyone. You must be a Social Work England registered Social Worker who’s organised, resilient and able to work independently. Confident in your abilities, you’ll also have demonstrable experience of working with children and families over a sustained period.
