This role can be based at Trowbridge or Chippenham.
Hours:Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.30pm
Holiday:28 days in addition to public holidays
Job purpose:
To undertake various services to clients in relation to matrimonial and general family law matters.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1. To undertake advocacy in Court.
2. Taking instructions from and advising clients, communicating with clients in person, on the telephone and by letter
3. Communicating with third parties on behalf of clients and negotiating with third party solicitors on behalf of clients
4. Complying with the office procedures manual.
5. Accounting to clients from time to time.
6. Drafting and approving documents.
7. Dealing with correspondence and telephone attendances.
8. Selecting and instructing independent experts to provide advice on behalf of clients.
9. Furthering the interests of the firm outside the office with third parties.
10. Assisting colleagues and support staff and helping with work in their absence.
11. Using the computer to input time and generally work within Partners for Windows and other computer programmes as necessary.
12. Completing all administrative forms as required.
13. Ensuring that files are billed regularly and compliant with Lexcel.
14. Assisting and giving general advice in office surgeries
Skills:
• Knowledge of relevant law.
• Ability to communicate with all types of clients and to provide assistance and understandable advice to those clients.
• Drafting skills and ability to negotiate.
• Advocacy skills.
