Children’s Services: Family Support Worker (x 3)

This is an exciting time to join Wokingham Borough Council as we expand our children’s workforce to meet an increase in demand for our services and create innovative new teams and roles, using Systemic Theory and a Trauma Informed approach, alongside Signs of Safety as our practice framework.

With this in mind we have 3 new permanent opportunities for Family Support Workers across our Children’s Social Care team. All three of the roles will be placed in the Children’s Safeguarding Teams.

The Role

  • The Family Support Worker will be working with children and their families.
  • The children’s lead professional in the team will be a Social Worker, who will provide you with guidance, support and advice.
  • Cases will span a wide range of issues including poverty, family conflict, substance or alcohol misuse, mental illness and/or disability, neglect and helping families focus on the needs of the children.
  • Working closely with other agencies and local services, you will be on the frontline improving outcomes for children aged 0-18.
  • You will hear and promote the voice of the child.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of Wokingham children.
  • To provide a wide range of case related support to the team of Social Workers.
  • Be an integral member of the team supporting and demonstrating collaborative ways of working.

The ideal candidate will haveSubstantial experience in either a paid or voluntary capacity working directly with children and families in a formal setting. Further details with regards to the essential criteria are listed on the Job Description.
