78553 - Shifted – Field Engineer/Technical Support
This Field Engineer/Technical Support will report to the Lead Field Engineer and will work within Network Operations based in our v office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £48,326 - £58,229 per annum. (dependent upon Qualifications and experience).
15% Shift Allowance.
Outer London Weighting £2, 314.12 per annum.

JOB PURPOSE
You will have responsibility to ensure the safe and correct use of resources to operate on the distribution network. They would maintain an overview of the workload and resources to provide rapid response and restoration to faults, minimising Customer Minutes Lost, Customer Interruptions and provide and accurate information to our customers affected by these faults.
The role includes liaison with customers, Network Control and Area Leads ensuring up to date accurate information is provided. It also requires operational work in the field on site managing faults and restoring supplies. You will have a minimum of an LV authorised and AP or SAP at 11kV or willing to be trained as an SAP.
You will work shifts on a 1 in 5 rota, between 7:00am and 23.00pm 7 days a week, average at 37 hours a week.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensure of Health & Safety in all aspects of work
Demonstrate and promote UK Power Networks visions and values
Responsibility for delivery of all faults response and repair to time, cost and quality
Daily planning, coordination and real-time responsibility for the efficient utilisation of resources
Ensure staff comply with all procedures and work to a high standard.
Rapid response in restoration of supply – identify resources to meet targets set for supply restoration.
Support and provide technical advice to Fault Schedulers and Field staff on site and remotely – problem solve, detail restoration plan following company guidelines and safety.
Liaison with Local Areas – generation, repair work, customer service and network issues are dealt with promptly.
Work in a pressurised environment as part of a focused team.
Liaise with and manage relationships with our customers to meet their expectations wherever possible, with both internal and external customers.
Complete quality assurance checks of works completed and take necessary actions to rectify any quality issue.
Be prepared to assist other sections, e.g. organisational changes, system emergencies.
NATURE & SCOPE
You will manage the correct utilisation, allocation, and management of resources for delivering all workstreams within a geographical area. Together with Schedulers, Field Staff Supervisors, and Field Teams you will deliver an excellent service to the customer, ensuring we meet the requirements of our Guaranteed Service Standards.
The post holder should ensure that they set the highest of standards in all areas including professional conduct.
You will operate on a 16-hour, 7 days per week shifted pattern.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Essential
Experience working in the field as a Faults Trained DST/Jointer/Engineer
LV Switching & Linking Authorised
ONC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (if not achieved must commit to undertaking studies)
Have appropriate understanding of the Electricity Distribution Networks
Understanding of Microsoft Office, SAP and ADMS (PowerOn)
Exercise and loyalty to the organisation. Clear sense of duty, conscientious and generally conforming to the team decision
Valid driving licence.
Desirable:
NRSWA (City & Guilds) Supervisor Certificate
IOSH Managing Safety
11kV SAP

Sound administration skills, working thoroughly with detailed information.
High HS&S awareness which is built into all decision-making.

Should you not have the full range of essential skills, qualifications and competencies listed above, there may be an opportunity for further training to equip you. If you do not have all relevant competencies for the core grade, it will be appropriate to appoint at a lower grade until they have developed the required competencies.
