Job Title: Finance Manager
Reports to: Managing Director/Finance Director
Location: Cheltenham
Salary: £32k-36k (FTE)
Hours: 21 hours per week
Job Purpose:
To ensure the financial records and systems of the business are accurately maintained, cashflow is closely monitored and providing regular and timely management information to Directors to enable them to monitor performance on a regular basis.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Maintaining all financial records accurately and on a timely basis, and within agreed systems
- Production of monthly management accounts, including reconciliation of all main control accounts
- Financial reporting, KPI and production of MI data
- Managing the process of temporary workers weekly timesheets, client invoicing and payroll
- Managing weekly cash flow, ensuring suppliers are paid on time and clients invoices settled within agreed terms.
- Monthly payroll management and reconciliation with HMRC and pension providers
- VAT compliance
- Credit control
- Act as main point of contact for any financial queries
- Purchasing and office services management
- Preparation of bank reconciliations on a weekly basis
- Any other tasks as directed by MD
Specification:
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Good level of general education, and high level of skills in English and Maths
- Extensive experience working in finance function and managing whole process.
- Excellent experience and understanding of Sage 50 and Excel (VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables)
- Able to prepare management accounts, and develop reports to highlight key issues in the business.
- Experience at processing and managing payroll systems and relationships with third party providers.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to investigate key variances and report accordingly.
- Very organised with ability to follow key processes already in place
- Ability to work using own initiative to resolve problems and issues
- Strong communication skills – both verbal and written - and ability to explain finance to non-finance colleagues
- Flexible attitude with ability to adapt to change
- Self-starting, motivated and proactive
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to work under pressure and within timescales
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- AAT qualified, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or qualified by experience
- Experience in schools and early years’ environment
