A housing association is currently looking for a Finance Officer on a temporary basis for about 4-5 months.
Key responsibilities are as follows
Post accurately and promptly all rent receipts and payments of other charges onto management system (Northgate) adhering to departmental procedures
Maintain and update Housing Benefit notifications to ensure receipts are allocated correctly.
Reconcile and review suspense accounts and take appropriate action leading to allocating payments to clients’ accounts
Process Direct Debit payments as required.
Spot check and process rent and payment adjustments to accounts ensuring appropriate authorisations have been obtained
Check and process client refund requests ensuring appropriate authorisations have been obtained
Download and save banking data to enable correct allocation of payments
Provide information relating to rents or service charge payments to any stakeholder
Ensure any unresolved matters are escalated to the Supervisor
To ensure that key data is recorded, stored and maintained to agreed standard and is of good quality, to meet the demands of the department or function and the wider business.
Be aware of control processes and systems (including continuous improvement arrangements) to ensure services are delivered and work is completed in accordance with service standards
To comply with policies and procedures in relation to the service area
Ensure journal entries are compiled accurately with respect to accounting convention
Be aware of the departmental strategy considering the internal and external operating environments
Work collaboratively with team members, sharing knowledge and information and providing cover and assistance where necessary
Pay is £17.48 PAYE or £22.97 Umbrella
Essential requirements
Must have worked in finance preferably within Housing but not essential
Experience of working with large volumes of financial transactions
Experience of collecting and providing information
Experience of delivering a customer focused service
Effective IT skills including basic/intermediate MS Office skills
Must be immediately available or on short notice
