Job description

We are working on behalf of a Global Finance IT function to find a interim Finance Business Partner to join a dynamic team in C.Bristol and globally for a temporary assignment of 6-9 months.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the business planning process for the Function, providing valuable insights and challenge across both OpEx and Capex. This role requires strong FP&A and reporting skills, exceptional stakeholder management, and experience within a large global finance function, preferably with exposure to Global IT from a finance perspective.

Job role: Interim Senior Finance Business Partner

Location: C.Bristol (Hybrid - 2-3 days per week)

Duration: 6-9 months (Fixed term contract)

Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 (total package) or equivalent day rate

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Performance & Partnering:

  • Support the business planning process for the Function, challenging assumptions, and providing insightful analysis.
  • Assist key functional stakeholders on all finance-related activities, ensuring effective governance and interactive performance management.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to business units/corporate functions, supporting the delivery of targets and facilitating localised planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Drive scenario planning and modelling to support financial delivery.
  • Create reports with greater insight, emphasising continuous improvement and collaborative engagement with stakeholders.
  • Ensure high-quality, well-structured, and governed reporting data, advocating for standardization and automation/AI.
  • Act as the key contact point for functional teams and Corporate FP&A for ad hoc analysis requirements.
  • Manage query resolution in financial processes, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close.
  • Facilitate the budgeting and forecasting process, supporting other functions in understanding the impact of their assumptions on plans.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency, cost savings, and business growth through collaboration with the business.
  • Review financial performance reporting, providing commentary where necessary.
  • Oversee and develop briefing packs for the Functional Leadership Team.
  • Coordinate ad hoc reporting and analysis requests for the Function/Group leadership.
  • Assess financial impacts of emerging business opportunities and risks at the Function level.
  • Ensure correctness of data in major financial tools.
  • Proactively support/enable the Finance Operating Model and related transformations, including data and technology initiatives.

Critical Decisions:

  • Accountable for decisions related to business plans, latest estimates/forecasts, building assumptions, and setting the local calendar.
  • Facilitate decisions on Function target setting for the planning process.
  • Facilitate decisions on Function business performance through insights to standard reporting and monthly/quarterly business reviews.
  • Facilitate decisions on financial and investment appraisals for the Function through ad-hoc analysis and modelling.

Key Capabilities:

  • Deep FP&A and Function knowledge.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Data analytics and scenario modelling.
  • Investment appraisal.
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Proficient user of systems (SAP, Anaplan, Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a large global finance function with exposure to Global IT.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with financial systems and tools mentioned above.
