Job Introduction



This role is based in the Financial Crime Prevention (FCP) Systems, Data and Analytics team in Manchester. The team is responsible for a range of FCP-related activities including model development, analytics, system configuration, MI and reporting and process optimisation through the use of data and systems. We provide data and analytics services to a variety of stakeholders including FCP Operations, Financial Crime Compliance, senior management and regulators.
The role holder will work with various data sets within the SQL Server UK Data Warehouse and end user-generated data in Excel and flat files. The role includes analysing data to identify patterns and trends, providing data analytics support to Financial Crime operations and projects, and the development and production of regular and ad-hoc reporting for various audiences.

Main Responsibilities 

  • To develop a detailed understanding of the FCP business area including a comprehensive appreciation of the data landscape and how this relates to process, system interactions and data source quality. 
  • Coding of data transformation and integration processes to support analytics and reporting.
  • Development of BI and MI dashboards and reports in the FCP area, in particular interactive and self-serve apps using tools such as Tableau, QlikView or PowerBI.
  • Supporting process change within the operational teams, in particular using IT solutions to improve the collection, processing and management of data within the department’s operational processes.
  • Defining and maintaining metrics to measure Financial Crime risk in the bank (key risk indicators) and performance in the business area (key performance indicators).
  • Serving as a conduit between the data team and the business, communicating data-driven insights to non-technical audiences. A good cross over of BI and business skills would be advantageous.
  • Operates in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager.

Essential:

  • SQL programming, ideally in Microsoft SQL Server
  • Data transformation and data manipulation, and experience working with multiple disparate data sets
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail (verbal/written and interpersonal) working with multiple technical and non-technical stakeholders with an ability to explain complex topics in understandable simple terms.

 Advantageous:

  • Experience using BI tools such as QlikView, Tableau, Power BI or similar
  • Experience of data modelling and analysis in a programming language such as Python, R or SAS
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge and skills
