About the team.

The role sits within the Group Planning Team, a pivotal team within the Finance Community of The Very Group.

Our team is responsible for the creation and delivery of financial plans that support the overall strategic goals of the Group. Our work ensures accurate, quality information is shared with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external.

We develop close relationships with all teams across Finance and teams across the wider business.

Success in the team requires an engaging individual who embraces every challenge, who can communicate effectively and will seek to find better ways to achieve the team’s goals.

About the role.

Working within the Group Planning team on delivery of Annual Budget and Rolling Forecast cycles to support the Board and Executive Team on key business decisions.

Success in the role demands the timely delivery of accurate, well-presented and relevant planning information in a user-friendly form, which is capable of being modified quickly to meet the ever-changing needs of its users. A team player who is able to build cross functional relationships is vital.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Project manage the annual Budget process and Rolling Forecasts
  • Assist with preparation of all planning analysis and presentations
  • Develop relationships that allow open communication across finance enabling effective process delivery
  • Ownership of key Planning responsibilities, driving ongoing process improvements
  • Challenge assumptions identifying risks and opportunities
  • Understand the commercial drivers of the Group’s performance to provide commercial insight
  • Support the preparation of Five Year Plans
  • Provide financial modelling support.
  • The role also involves ad hoc analysis which may require direct interaction with various management levels including Exec.

About you.

  • A qualified accountant is preferred but part-qualified applicants will be considered if exceptional.
  • A self-starter with the social confidence and charisma to develop highly productive stakeholder relationships.
  • Able to challenge upwards and cross-functionally and welcomes being challenged.
  • Technically excellent with the ability to deal with complexity and communicate complex financial matters in simple terms.
  • First-class analytical skills with the ability to interpret critical information and data.
  • To be comfortable working to tight deadlines under pressure.
  • The ability to navigate and thrive successfully through a complex and demanding business.
  • To be able to accept ambiguity and embrace change
