Alfa Staff - Finish Shop Machine Operator (Grinder) - Cwmbran

We are looking to recruit a Finishing shop Machine Operator to efficiently operate manual grinding equipment to produce finished products.

Main responsibilities:

• Responsible for setting up and operating a variety of finishing equipment (cylindrical / surface / polishing)
• Carry out routine operator maintenance tasks.
• Responsible for quality of work and level of production
• Ensure that components are finished accordingly to the quality standards / customer drawings / process documents for each application.
• Inspect parts before and after processing to ensure preceding operations have been carried out correctly and to verify that your own work has met the required standards.
• Good housekeeping (5s) of own work area and contribute to the general upkeep of the working environment.
• Become familiar with the "check-work-check" process and be committed to a "right first time" approach to all tasks carried out.
• Operate in a safe manner and undertake any training necessary to enable you to fulfil the requirements of your position.
• To uphold your statutory duty of care for your own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions.
• To enable the company to meet its own legal duties and to report any hazardous situations or defective equipment.
• Wear personal protective equipment provided by the company.
• Ensure a high level of communication to employees, managers & colleagues.

Qualifications, experience, and skills:

• Previous experience of setting and operating Surface grinding machines
• Experience in reading engineering drawings.
• Competent in the use of measuring equipment and measuring techniques.
• A team player with a "can do attitude" and attention to detail.

Salary / package:

• Hours of work 7.30am-4pm Monday to Thursday - Friday 7.30am to 11.30am
• Basic 36 Hours - Morning break paid. Lunch deducted.
• Overtime - Paid at time + Half - £17.46 per hour
• Pension
• Free parking on site.
• 25 days holiday plus national holidays.
