We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen in the Building Safety and Compliance Fire team, we have a friendly team that carry out annual FRA’s to 55 High Risk Buildings and 365 low rise Buildings over a three-year programme.
The role is integral to the management of safety within our High-Rise Buildings, you will provide assurance not only to the Regulator, but also to our residents, ensuring that they both are and feel safe within their homes
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to conduct Fire Risk assessments across a portfolio of high and low-rise housing stock and relevant business premises. This role will be the responsible person for the buildings that require an FRA, you will manage a set number of high-rise buildings within a specified patch in accordance with its Building Safety Case. You will secure the award of Building Assessment Certificates (required for occupation) by submitting Building Safety Cases to the Regulator according to prescribed parameters. In doing so, you will shield Sandwell MBC from criminal penalty.
You can expect to be out and about for some of a typical week - conducting FRA Inspections and engaging with our residents. Working together with the other FRA Inspectors, safety case developers and other teams across Sandwell MBC to obtain the information you need, so we want you to be inquisitive, firm but fair, professional prober with a penchant for asking questions.
Do you have experience conducting FRA inspections, can you’ll use your skill set to make sure that we do what we say we will, keeping our residents safe and putting them at the centre of everything that we do.
Competency is important to us, as we need you to be confident from day one and as such, we'll need you to have a technical qualification
- Level 4 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessments or equivalent. You should be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience regarding fire safety.
- You shall be able to competently undertake a suitable and sufficient Fire Risk assessment in a social housing environment ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Excellent communication skills are essential as is a good working knowledge of current legislation related to fire safety and practical application of fire safety principles.
- You will develop fire safety action plans for HRA owned stock including leasehold properties and provide expert specialist fire safety support and advice to a range of audiences, including designing and delivering fire safety related training for elected members, employees and residents.
