About:
Our client is a leading UK external wall fire risk remediation contractor, with whom we have been working for a number of years, assisting their growth.
Their business is now looking for a Fire Engineer to assist its project teams, providing fire engineering expertise from tender stage and throughout each project.
The business is part of a well-funded profitable group of building envelope installation/refurbishment service providers.
The Role:
The role is a new senior appointment and will be remunerated above market rates to reflect the quality of the required candidate.
- Liaise closely with Clients, Contractors, Developers, Clerk of Works and other key stakeholders
- Undertake Risk Assessments in line with current legislation
- Advise on pragmatic, cost-effective solutions to mitigate risk where possible
- Working with and developing a Quality Management System. Report on a regular basis on status of projects.
- Review information relating to Fire Safety that the client has accrued for their buildings to date and advise them of its suitability
- Conduct Fire Risk Assessments both internally and externally in-line with current industry guidance and compile a detailed report, including PAS9980 reports
- Work with the project team to produce cost-effective, pragmatic remedial solutions where possible
- Attend client/resident meetings when required to explain reports that have been issued and the implications of the findings
- Work with the project team to compile the ER’s
- Liaise closely with the clerk of works and the contractor and carry out compliance checks of the works as they progress
- Attend site progress meetings when required.
Requirments:
- Ideally 8+ years’ experience in Fire Engineering
- Experienced in signing off PAS9980 Reports
- Experience with Type 1-4 FRA’s
- Experience in Compartmentation Surveys
- Experience in large and small refurbishment and re-cladding projects
- MIFireE and CEng or close to achieving CEng Status
Ideally, the candidate will be a full Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers and a Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council, and have a Fire Assurance Services discipline, which focuses on FRAEW & EWS1 services, intrusive inspection services, and remedial consulting services.
Although located in the East Midlands, with today’s technology, regular office presence is not required.
