Job description

The Role

As a Firefighting Instructor you will deliver a range of offshore emergency response and health & safety based training courses to the highest standard. The range of courses includes firefighting, rescue at height, confined space rescue and other associated courses deemed applicable. Delivery of training will be both theoretical and practical with courses predominantly being carried out within the training centre and on occasion at client’s premises, ensuring that all activities are completed safely and in full compliance of the Company’s and/or the Client's safety Management System.


• The delivery of classroom based theoretical course material to a large number of delegates with the use of presentations and various visual aids
• The delivery and demonstration of practical course material to a large number of delegates
• Professional assessment of delegates against the relevant awarding bodies standard
• Overseeing delegate safety at all times during potentially dangerous exercises in accordance with company safe working practices and task based risk assessments
• Carry out inspection and maintenance of equipment and facilities in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and company maintenance schedule
• Set up and support training exercises in accordance with written plans and site specific risk assessments
• Undergo personal development and training to further increase trade knowledge and overall skill set
• Be flexible and undertake additional duties commensurate with the overall responsibilities of the job

Experience


• Experience as an operational firefighter at supervisory level
• Professional assessor in the workplace qualification preferred
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and with a wide variety of people e.g., staff, clients, delegates
• Proficient working knowledge of office IT systems including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
• Driving Licence
