Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Flood Risk Engineer to come and join a busy client in Lincolnshire.
As a Council Flood Risk Engineer, you will be responsible for assessing, analyzing, and implementing strategies to mitigate the risk of flooding in our community. Your expertise will contribute to the development of effective Flood Risk management plans, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and the protection of property and infrastructure.
The main duties and responsibilities of the experienced Flood Risk Engineer are:

  • Conduct thorough Flood Risk assessments for designated areas, considering factors such as topography, hydrology, climate change, and land use.
  • Develop and implement Flood Risk management strategies and plans in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • provide engineering input into the design of flood defences, drainage systems, and other infrastructure to reduce Flood Risks.
  • Contribute to the development of emergency response plans and protocols for flooding events, coordinating with emergency services and relevant agencies.
  • Engage with the community to raise awareness of Flood Risks, provide education on flood resilience, and gather local knowledge to inform Flood Risk assessments.


The qualifications an experience needed for the role are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Professional engineering certification is preferred.
  • Proven experience in Flood Risk management, hydraulic modeling, and infrastructure design.
  • Strong knowledge of Flood Risk assessment techniques, relevant regulations, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
