Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Food and Nutrition Technician to join an ambitious, successful, forward-thinking Technology Department. With 7 teaching staff and 2 support staff in the department, our highly skilled staff cover Design Technology, Food and Nutrition and Child Development. All are popular subjects at GCSE.

The Technology Department are passionate about developing students’ knowledge and understanding, as well as practical skills. The Food & Nutrition Technician will work with the teaching staff in the classroom to support the Food & Nutrition curriculum. We are looking for someone who is passionate about Food & Nutrition and willing to go that extra mile to give our students the best experience possible. Improving teaching and learning is at the forefront of what we do and therefore someone who is adaptable, creative, and reflective would be a perfect addition to our already successful department.

The role of Food and Nutrition Technician will work under the supervision of the Food & Nutrition Co-ordinator and Head of Department to support in classroom teaching of Food and Nutrition. The role involves working with students to assist in their learning and cooking, preparing the classroom, ingredients and equipment before lessons and assisting in clearing away afterwards.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a proven background in Food and Nutrition or catering. You will have experience of supporting young people in an education environment, be patient, empathetic and supportive. You will have an awareness of SEND and support classroom initiatives to support students with additional needs.
