Job description

Come and join us as an EFL Teacher, supporting at the Michael Owen Red Stars Football School, this summer.

Based in the scenic area of Oakham, you're less than 20kms from the city of Leicester. Football is one of our focuses at Oakham and you will be teaching English as a Foreign Language, with football as a subject. You don't need to be a footballer (as you won't be teaching football) but an interest in the game or even a little knowledge could help, although it's not essential.

What does it involve? Here at Stafford House Study Holidays, we welcome over 6000 young students (aged 8-17) from all over the world, from early July to mid-August. During their 7-14 day stay, we provide a vibrant activities and excursions programme, alongside stimulating English language lessons in the classroom. It's a great opportunity to work with a range of ages, levels of ability and students from a multi-cultural environment.

We support you: We provide your lesson materials to support our fun and varied syllabus. We also provide CPD, appraisals and observations, as well as an experienced and supportive academic management team.

*Experienced Teaching staff completing a minimum of 4 weeks work during summer 2024 may be eligible to apply for free DELTA module 1 course, run by Stafford House International, London. *T&Cs apply.

Contracts: From 23rd June - 18th August. You can choose your contract of 4-6 weeks between July to mid-August. You must be available throughout July. We may be able to support you with full-board accommodation if you’d like to try a residential contract. See below for more information.

Locations: Oakham (famous for the Michael Owen Red Stars football school)

We also have roles in Bournemouth, Canterbury, Cambridge, Central London, and Uxbridge.

Hours: You can choose from 16-42 hour contracts, allowing you to find the perfect balance work/life over the summer holidays.

Some of what you need to become part of the Stafford House Teaching Team:

  • Teachers should have a first degree or equivalent and must be EFL/TESOL qualified (e.g. CELTA, CertTESOL or another TEFL certificate which meets Accreditation UK criteria), PGCEs in English, Modern Foreign Languages or Primary will also be considered.
  • DELTA/ DipTESOL or equivalent MA qualification desirable
  • Experience of teaching using Interactive Whiteboards and Digital Teaching Platform is preferred
  • Experience of teaching Exam Preparation for Trinity GESE is desirable
  • Experience of working with young learner
  • Be collaborative, have a passion for teaching and EFL
  • Have a working knowledge of safeguarding practices

Contract options explained:

Pay and hours for Non-Residential Teachers:

Hours: 16-42 hours teaching per week (including CPD)

- Teacher Non-residential (42 hours - 6 days per week) - £562.17 per week + holiday entitlement + (1+ years experience additional £5 per week) or (3+ years experience additional £15 per week)

(Monday to Friday mornings) - 16 hours - £250.00 per week + holiday entitlement + (1+ years experience additional £5 per week) or (3+ years experience additional £15 per week)

(Monday to Friday) - 32 hours - £462.00 per week + holiday entitlement + (1+ years experience additional £5 per week) or (3+ years experience additional £15 per week)

Pay and hours for Residential Contract Teachers:

Hours: 42 hours per week (made up of 15 or 30 hours teaching + teacher admin time, welfare of student time and/or leading excursions/activities)

- Teacher - £519.75 per week + holiday entitlement

- Teacher + 1 year experience - £524.75 per week + holiday entitlement

- Teacher + 3 years+ experience - £534.75 per week + holiday entitlement

*This includes full-board accommodation at the school.
