Job Purpose

You will be responsible for the accurate recording of crime and incidents in accordance with national standards. The exercise of these functions informs the strategic decision making processes of the Force and supports delivery of improved Force performance.

Knowledge and Experience

The expectation is that an FCR will have passed the College of Policing’s national training course within 12 months of appointment and will thereafter maintain professional accreditation.

Must possess an expert knowledge of the National Crime Recording Standard and National Standard for Incident Recording in order to promote consistent, accurate and victim oriented recording of crime and incidents.

A thorough understanding of audit processes and experience of implementing audit programmes. Analytical and problem solving skills together with the ability to review detailed research and audit findings to summarise and present the results and make appropriate recommendations and ensure that they are implemented.

Excellent interpersonal skills, and a strategic grasp to enable the post-holder to operate at the highest levels within the Force.

The ability to communicate at all levels within the Force to establish strong working relationships with senior representatives of the Home Office, HMIC, other forces, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, and Government bodies.

Proven project management and co-ordination skills together with the ability to provide leadership, motivate and identify development needs to help staff achieve their potential.

Must have experience of the managerial, planning, budgetary and performance monitoring responsibilities of a senior head of department.
