Around 3,500 farmers based in East Anglia and the East Midlands supply our four advanced manufacturing sites with eight million tonnes of sugar beet every year. We, in turn, make this in to over 1 million tonnes of sugar, serving customers across the UK, Ireland and increasingly growing commercially in the EU and world sugar markets.
Forecasting Manager
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Head of Business Planning, you will be accountable for the end to end forecasting process for British Sugar (Crop Forecasting and Demand Planning). You will create insightful plans for the short, medium, and long term that will inform key strategic decisions by owning the balance of crop supply and customer demand.
You will partner and influence the respective Agriculture and Commercial leadership teams as well as the Board of British Sugar translating complex sets of data into actionable insights and plans.
Your core accountabilities
Owning the output of the Crop Forecasting process and the Demand Planning process, partnering, and influencing key decision makers within the organisation up to Board level. Ownership of Crop Forecast Review meeting and Demand Review meeting through clear insights, enabling effective outcomes form the reviews. Leading collaborative planning with Commercial and Agriculture. Validation of forecast assumptions, principles, and ranges at senior level for both demand and crop. Building effective relationships with key strategic customers and areas of the grower base to better inform the process. Facilitating weekly cycle, driving action through the Commercial Team and managing the risk and opportunity profile. Coaching and developing own team.
Critical Skills, Knowledge and Competencies
Ability to partner and influence key stakeholders and decision makers. Operate cross functionally and delivering high performance through effective team working and collaboration. Thorough understanding of the British Sugar value chain and end to end business cycles. Creative problem solving. Ability to plan and think short, medium, and long term. Exceptional data analysis skills
