Fred Nicholson School is a Complex Needs provision meeting the needs of young people with learning difficulties and associated needs from 7yrs-18yrs. Our team is expanding and we are currently recruiting – this is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated, hardworking and imaginative team. Our pupils’ needs are best met through consistency of routine and familiar staff – please note applicants need to be able to work the hours detailed below:

• This role is for 37 hours a week during term time plus 1 week
• Hours to be worked are 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 8.30am – 4.00pm on Fridays
• Paid at Scale F from £21,067 – £23,087

The successful candidate work with the Outdoor Learning Lead to plan and oversee the day to day delivery, organisation and smooth running of Forest Schools programmes; evaluate programmes and to continually strive for improvement; and promote learning in the outdoor environment and the ethos of Forest School and outdoor learning.

Applications are encouraged from people who:

• Hold a Level 3 Forest Schools Programme Leadership Certificate; hold a current First Aid Certificate, (or be willing to undertake the training)
• Knowledge, understanding and practical experience of Forest Schools provision for children and an understanding of schools, their ethos and how they work.
• Experience and understanding of working with pupils with SEND
• To be able to use good behaviour management skills appropriate to the child and their individual needs.
• shows commitment to working in a caring, supportive team. You will also need a level of resilience and a sense of humour.
• have good IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel and Google Drive to provide effective and efficient administrative support for the subject area.
• have a commitment to training – we are committed to our investment in staff and you will access an induction programme, whole school CPD opportunities and any further training that may be appropriate to your role.
