Role overview:

This role is a hands-on technical role. It involves preparing formulations of test items, using a range of laboratory equipment, to the highest standards of accuracy and quality. Work is conducted in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice so you need to be comfortable working in a regulated environment where standard procedures must be strictly followed and documented, procedures may also be observed.  The role can be fast paced, so the right candidate will have good time management skills and should be able to work flexibly and accurately under pressure. You will be expected to keep detailed electronic and paper-based records; maintain a clean and safe laboratory working environment; and keep other people informed of any issues that might affect meeting a deadline.  The tasks involved in this role are varied, including manual handling of weights up to 15 Kg, as well as computer-based work.

Working as part of a small team, you will be trained in a varied range of skills and techniques.  Some flexibility in working hours is required and once you are able to work without supervision, you will be asked to cover weekend work on a rota basis.

We do not require a degree for this role since full training will be given.  However, we will expect applicants to have an active interest in science, particularly Chemistry, and to have a minimum GCSE in Science.  Being able to demonstrate any work experience in a laboratory environment is ideal.  Or alternatively, if you can show that you are able to work to high levels of precision and accuracy in an environment where deadlines have to be met and workloads can vary, we would be interested in your application
