Job Introduction

Our Foundations to Employment Co-ordinator forms part of our Care Leavers Offer Team. The teams is focused on developing and delivering the best possible service to our young people Leaving care. We are responsible for ensuring that Staffordshire’s ‘Offer’ to Care Leavers is robust, and the delivery of that offer is consistent for care leavers across all of the district teams

The team consists of Housing Personal Advisors, Foundations to Employment Co-ordinator and a Welfare Benefits Officer. The team are responsible for providing technical expertise to support our Personal Advisors and Senior Practitioners for PAs on the district teams.

The Foundations to Employment Co-ordinator will focus on raising the aspirations and opportunities for our young people in relation to accessing and engaging in employment and training.

Main Responsibility

This is an exciting opportunity to join a pro-active and passionate team, at a time when Staffordshire have robust and creative plans in place to develop our offer to Care Leavers.

As an F2E Co-ordinator your main responsibilities will include:

  • delivering employability skills sessions to young people
  • sourcing work placements from local businesses and companies for our young people to undertake
  • supporting and encouraging the young person to engage in, and successfully complete, the work placement, with a view to them gaining full time employment at the end of placement
  • attending site visits to monitor progress on placements and intervening at times to resolve any issues
  • liaising with multi-agency professionals, to work collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for our young people
  • monitoring and tracking progress of young people involved in the programme

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience of delivering training to young people, delivery of employability skills training would be preferable. The ideal candidate will also have extensive experience of working with children in care, care leavers and/or other disadvantaged groups. 

We want to recruit someone who is pro-active and passionate about their role, someone who will take a keen interest in improving the outcomes for our Care Leavers, and will find creative ways to engage our more hard to reach young people. Ideally having knowledge and insight into some of the issues that our Care Leavers face, the ideal candidate will be sensitive to the young person's needs, and will creative individualised support packages to encourage young people to complete work placements.
