The project co-ordinator will ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget and delivers the expected outcomes. The project will be based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
Once stories have been uncovered within the archives and researched by the volunteers, the co-ordinator will ensure they are 'given voice' through
- Widespread community engagement with the project via social media.
- An engaging website to promote the project and its findings.
- A physical exhibition showcasing the stories.
- A performance based on the stories, performed at two venues.
- A graphic novel telling selected stories uncovered during the project.
- Podcasts of volunteers discussing their work and stories uncovered.
To achieve these outcomes, the Project Co-ordinator will:
- Organise training for the volunteers by already identified trainers into archival research.
- Work with Archive Service staff to manage the processes for volunteers to examine the archive material for LGBTQ+ histories.
- Manage the promotion of the project through social media and the project website.
- Oversee and support the volunteer's research.
- Arrange a physical exhibition showcasing the stories, travelling across 'traditional' venues such as libraries and museums, but also atypical places for an exhibition, such as receptions in offices and businesses.
- Liaise with partners to create and deliver the performances.
- Arrange for the stories to be turned into a graphic novel, to be made available electronically, free of charge through the website.
- Working with the volunteers, create a podcast series, where volunteers discuss the stories they have discovered and researched.
- Overseeing the project evaluation.
The total budget to manage the 9 months project, including travel expenses, is £18,000.
The budget to deliver the various elements of the project is £18,960. A fully costed breakdown of costs will be made available.
