Freight Account Manager - Manchester - 40k - Hybrid

A global logistics and supply chain solutions provider with a strong presence in over 40 countries who offer a wide range of services including freight forwarding, warehousing, customs clearance, and transportation. We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Freight Account Manager to join our dynamic and dynamic team. The right candidate should be able to cost, quote and operationally manage Key Accounts to the operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Focusing on retaining, growing and developing existing clients, together with generating new business in line with KPI's.
  • Setting and maintaining client rates, ensuring they are updated as required to avoid expiry.
  • Ensuring quality client deliverables are achieved and service levels met including accurate and legible control towers are sent; overseeing data quality and highlighting issues to operations managers; building bespoke documents and reports as needed.
  • Maintaining client intelligence, maintaining up to date information and responding to changes such as client at risk.
  • Setting communication schedules and touch points for your accounts
  • Play a key role in new business pitches and hold responsibility for the effective on-boarding of new clients.
  • Act as the key interface between the allocated customer and all relevant departments.
  • Resolve any issues and problems faced by your customers and deal with complaints to maintain trust.
  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate customer needs on an ongoing basis, ensuring we are consistently meeting or exceeding them.
  • Maintaining the revenue and gross profit of each account ensuring they remain profitable, proactively exhausting all additional revenue streams opportunities.
  • Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and reporting.
  • Understand the value drivers of the business and identifying profitable commercial opportunities to grow revenue and market share.
  • Foresee any changes in the landscape and implement strategic management to help the company negotiate such changes. Interpreting market trends and adapting to industry changes.
  • Represent the company externally e.g. at networking events, conferences and exhibitions to enhance and strengthen the company's profile and optimise all business development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Previous operational experience across Ocean and Air Freight is essential
  • An excellent communicator both written and verbally
  • Strong negotiation skills with excellent presentation skills
  • Proven track record of winning new business from existing Accounts.
  • A solid understanding of customer supply chains and KPIs is desirable
  • Excellent analytical skills
