Freight Forwarding Specialist

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Freight Forwarding Specialist to join our client's team in Reading.
As a Freight Forwarding Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and timely movement of goods across various modes of transport. You will be responsible for coordinating shipments, managing documentation, and addressing any issues that arise during the shipping process.
Responsibilities:

• Oversee and coordinate the transportation of goods by air, sea, road, and rail.
• Negotiate and arrange competitive freight rates with carriers.
• Ensure prompt and accurate booking of cargo space with suppliers.
• Act as the main point of contact for clients concerning shipment status, documentation, and any arising issues.
• Provide clients with tracking details and updates on shipment progress.
• Prepare and manage all required shipping documents, including bills of lading, invoices, T1s, and packing lists.
• Ensure adherence to international trade regulations, customs requirements, and export/import laws.
• Facilitate customs clearance and address any customs-related issues.
• Supervise and control the flow of goods through various stages of the supply chain.
• Detect and resolve any issues or delays in the shipment process.
• Take proactive measures to find solutions and minimize supply chain disruptions.
• Maintain precise records of shipments, costs, and customer communications.
• Produce regular reports on shipment status, costs, and performance metrics.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Freight Forwarding Specialist or in a similar role within the Freight Forwarding industry.
• Strong knowledge of international trade regulations and customs procedures.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to negotiate effectively with carriers and suppliers.
• Proficiency in preparing and processing shipping documentation.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency in using logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think proactively.
