Job description

An experienced Food Technologist is required for our client a large Fresh Produce Distributor based in Kent. The main purpose of the role will be to develop and maintain the technical reports, supplier compliance systems and due diligence requirements. Maintain customer and internal data requirements, including analysis and reporting. This includes contributing to decisions relating to data in the end to end Supply Chain. The main responsibilities will be:

  • Develop and maintain the customer and internal data requirements
  • Responsible for capturing, analysing and reporting data.
  • Supporting the process of delivering safe and legal procedure to the customer.
  • Contribute to the category sourcing/procurement plans with live accurate data.
  • Cross functional working to identify and implement opportunities that will maintain competitive advantage and create efficiencies through the Supply Chain.
  • Support category leadership through value adding innovation and R&D (eg. variety development, packaging solutions, sustainability, data, points of difference) whilst at all times communicating effectively until the point of implementation.
  • Provide data for seasonal/periodic reviews to measure success.
  • Provide data and insight to analyse performance V's competitors, benchmarking, store visit etc.
  • Support with customer and grower visits as and when required
  • Contribute to the data elements of seasonal tenders whilst ensuring communication is maintained internally and externally.
  • Be aware of Group and Company H&S and Environmental Policies, Procedures and Protocols.
  • Report all accidents, near misses, unsafe acts or conditions and environmental events noted throughout the business to the H&S Manager through the HUB.
  • Notify the Line Manager of any procedures or work arrangements that you do not understand or feel competent to undertake.
  • Co-corporate with the Company at all times to ensure at all times that the work is undertaken both effectively and safely.
  • Use safety equipment or clothing provided in a proper manner and for the purpose intended.
  • Work in accordance with any Health & Safety instruction or training that has been given.
  • Any other reasonable duties to meet the needs of the business.

Must be able to build strong relationships with suppliers and be able to pay attention to detail. Must also have previous experience at a similar level within the Fresh Produce sector and have a QA or previous Technical experience. Excellent IT skills are needed along with a knowledge of Health & Safety.
