Fisher of Newbury is a family-owned Fresh produce distribution business based in Newbury, Berkshire. We've been around for more than seventy years and are now the region's leading supplier of Fresh produce to both the catering trade and private customers.
Various positions available , full and part time.
As a warehouse Picker/Packer at Fisher of Newbury, you will (along other duties):
Select and weigh produce, and assemble orders accurately from a ‘picking note’ - which might also contain customer-specific instructions to follow.
Move pallets around the warehouse, safely using a hand pump truck
Be responsible for quality control and discuss any issues with the management team
Help unload delivery vehicles and place goods in the correct rotational place in the cold store
Keep your own work station clean and tidy with all equipment ready to start next shift
Clean work areas such as the cold store and the warehouse ready to put trolleys away
Make sure empty boxes are cleared throughout the night and at the end of the shift
On completion of new starter training this role will be eligible to join an attendance bonus scheme. This is 5% of total gross monthly pay if all criteria are met.
We operate 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday (working Sunday night to Friday night. Shift start time is 10pm until finish which is usually 6/7am)
Responsibilities:
- Pack items securely in boxes or containers according to specific instructions
- Inspect and verify the accuracy of product labels and information
- Load and unload produce from delivery trucks
- Stock shelves and organise inventory in the warehouse
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts or pump trucks
- Use a warehouse management system to track inventory
- Perform quality control checks to ensure products meet standards
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a warehouse or packing role preferred
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Excellent organisational skills for managing inventory
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
