We have a number of customer-focused posts within the Scottish Government House Teams. The House Teams are based in each of the Scottish Government main buildings and deliver a range of in-house services.
The House Teams provide Front of House (Security/Reception) and Distribution services as well as overseeing most aspects of the building’s day to day running. This involves close liaison with Scottish Government staff and tenants, other colleagues in Facilities Services, including colleagues in our Projects Team, Health and Safety and Environmental teams, and working alongside our external maintenance provider. The team play an essential part in keeping buildings safe and secure, taking the lead in emergencies such as fire alarm activations.
You will play a key part in the team by welcoming visitors and providing excellent customer service and be the main point of contact for any visitors coming to meetings. You will provide reception duties and ensure the safety and security of Scottish Government staff, assets and materials which includes carrying out security patrols and reporting incidents to the relevant teams.
Work Pattern
You will be required to work 37 hours per week on a shift pattern Monday to Fridays and may be asked to work at different sites.
You will also be required to work a shift pattern of Early (05:48-14:12) and Back (13:48-22:12) shifts. For working shifts you receive an additional allowance of 12.5%. You may be asked to fill in on overtime at weekends for which an allowance will be paid.
Due to the nature of this role, we offer an attractive shift allowance of 12.5% as well as 36.5 days leave per year (inclusive of public/privilege holidays).
Responsibilities
• Provide security for the front desk at a Scottish Government building ensuring only people with the correct access get into the building, whilst also assisting visitors by welcoming them and contacting their meeting hosts.
• Responsibility for opening and the closing a main Scottish Government building.
• Assisting in the event of an emergency such as a fire evacuation or security incident.
• Carrying out internal and external security patrols, monitoring CCTV and reporting security incidents to the Security and Business Continuity team.
• Maintaining and accurately recording all building information on the appropriate log sheets.
• Carrying out other miscellaneous administrative functions that are associated with the House Team environments such as filing access sheet, answering email queries.
Essential Criteria
1. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with colleagues, senior managers and a wide range of internal and external customers.
2. You will be able to demonstrate resilience in overcoming challenges and working within a team.
3. Proven organisational and time management skills, including the ability to balance competing demands and use initiative.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
