We have an exciting opportunity for a part time Fuel Berth Operator to operate the Fuel Berth facility to ensure the safe and efficient running of all aspects of the Fuel Berth operation whilst providing excellent customer service. After training, this is a remotely supported, solitary position on the floating fuel barge in the medina river.

This permanent, part-time role is scheduled over 3 days out of 7 (including regular Saturdays) A typical shift will be between 7 and 9 hours long between 09:30 – 16:30 in the winter and 08:30 to 17:30 in the summer.

What you will do

  • Operate the Fuel Berth, fuelling boats.
  • Process cash and card transactions.
  • Work with the Harbour Engineer to ensure all equipment is always maintained and ready for use.
  • Maintain fuel stock control.

What we are looking for

  • Confident customer relations skills and a passion for customer service
  • A self-starter who relishes variety and responsibility
  • Computer literacy
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexibility to cover holidays and sickness.
  • Evidence of GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2
  • RYA VHF Licence
  • This slightly physical role is likely to suit a recent retiree or someone looking to re-enter the workforce on a part- time basis

Cowes Harbour is a Trust Port, meaning we have no shareholders or other owners, but we are managed for the benefit of our users. The commission receives no funding from local or national government. Self-funded, money is raised through harbour dues and our commercial activities such as Kingston Boatyard, Shepards Marina, moorings on the River Medina, fuel barge and commercial contract work carried out by our afloat team.
