Full-time shop staff
John Atkins Cycles is looking for a retail assistant with a passion for all things cycling to join their small but busy team. With over 50 years of combined, hands-on experience and knowledge in our workshop and retail premises, we pride ourselves on providing a well-rounded and expert service to cyclists in Warwickshire.
Key skills and attributes
Prior experience working in a retail environment is desirable as we are seeking someone who can hit the ground running and get stuck straight in.
An interest in bicycles is necessary as you will be handling everything from folding commuter bikes and hi-spec road cycles to well-used mountain bikes and e-bikes. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with all aspects of the trade though as there is such a wide spectrum.
A thirst for knowledge is absolutely key for this role - the cycle trade is ever-changing with new materials being used for parts and accessories each year, and new bikes from all brands arriving every season. The whole team is always learning and moving with the current industry trends so you won’t be alone.
Excellent people skills are necessary in a retail environment. You will be talking to people from all walks of life who will have different budgets and different needs from buying inner tubes and spare cables, or buying themselves or a family member a bicycle. We want everyone who walks through our door to leave feeling like they’ve received top class customer service whether they’re spending £1 or £1000.
About the role
As a retail assistant you will be on the shop floor 5 days a week - ideally 4 week-days plus Saturdays - answering the door and phone. Opening and closing the shop will be required, and being a key holder for the right person subject to successful probation period.
As well as being the face of John Atkins Cycles, you will be responsible for helping to keep the shop floor stocked, clean and tidy, and generally looking good for customers.
Booking in repair work on our shop system, communicating effectively with the workshop team, and handling money and taking card payments will be part of your regular day-to-day work.

Salary of £22,500 - £25,000 per annum dependent on experience.
