Exceptional Opportunity for Experienced Gardener, Angus, Scotland
Gardyne Castle is an historic tower house located in attractive countryside between Forfar and Arbroath. The recently established, and still developing, private gardens have been featured in a number of national magazines, were opened to the public for Scotland’s Garden Scheme in 2021 and welcome visitors from international gardening associations most years. The gardens and policies with the Castle at their heart, extend to some 30 acres and include formal and informal areas of walled garden, herbaceous borders, rose garden, productive organic vegetable garden, knot garden, lawns, topiary, wildflower meadows and a developing woodland garden.
Reporting to the owners and with part time seasonal assistance, you will ensure the gardens are maintained to the highest standard throughout the year.
Additionally, you will help shape the garden as it continues to develop in line with a long term design, with a number of exciting new projects in prospect, including helping to create a courtyard garden in the steading.
It is essential that you have at least 5 years' professional gardening experience with excellent horticultural and plant knowledge and an HND in Horticulture with Plantsmanship (or equivalent). Additionally, you will be proficient in different techniques and be responsible for maintaining and operating a wide range of garden machinery.
It is essential that you are capable, and prepared, to work under your own initiative in managing your time and taking responsibility for key areas throughout the year. The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm and motivation coupled with a keen eye for detail.
