Functional Skills Teacher

Full time SEND Tutor – Immediate Start

Premier Education are currently working in partnership with an SEN college in Manchester who are looking for an SEND Tutor to start full time in September 2023.
You will be working with small groups of pupils aged between the ages of 16-25 supporting them with their learning. Mainly focussing on functional and life skills you will be expected to plan and mark sessions against a given framework from pre entry curriculum to entry level and up to level 2.

The college has a very supportive team and support workers with the young people at all times. The pupils have varying levels of SEN ranging from ASC and SEMH to more complex medical needs and PMLD.

Due to the nature of the role, all tutors and teachers must have a Child and Adult Workforce DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one as some personal care might be required. Candidates must also be flexible and committed as well as consistent in their approach to teaching and learning.
 
Ideal candidates will:
•    Have experience working with children and young people who have PMLD / ASD/SLD/MLD
•    Be sensitive to the needs and backgrounds of children with complex SEND
•    Have passion and interest in gaining or developing experience in the SEND sector 
•    Have experience in the teaching of Functional Skills. 
•    Be comfortable supporting young people with all aspects of personal care.
•    Be able to provide a minimum of 2 references to cover the last 2 years employment history
•    Hold relevant training or qualifications related to working in schools / SEND provisions
