Charity seeking applications for an inspirational Functional Skills tutor in Mathsand/or English.

Overview and Responsibilities

Location: Bransgore, Hampshire
Hours: Full time and part time hours available - Monday – Friday - Term Time Only
Salary: £14.00 per hour plus a health cash care plan, pension membership and retails benefit platform.
 
Fortune College.

A residential further education college for young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.

Working with horses, our students learn independent living skills, social and communication skills, Maths, English, ICT, skills for work and accredited qualifications.
 
The main purpose of the role:
 
To deliver high quality Maths or English sessions on a 1:1 or a small group basis to young people aged 16-25 with a range of SEND needs. The focus of Fortune College revolves around increasing academic and vocational qualifications and knowledge, whilst achieving independent living skills that will equip young people for the next stage in their lives, be that further education, training, or work.
 
Other duties:

  • Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum offer.
  • Set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for everyone.
  • Undertake initial assessment of students and carry out baseline and progress assessments.
  • Contribute to the review of EHC plans.

Successful candidate skills and qualifications:
 
Essential: 

  • Minimum Level 3 teaching qualification and evidence of teaching sessions or working as a TA.
  • To be able to teach Maths and/or EnglishFunctional Skills from Entry Level through to Level 2
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing students’ progress.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative, prioritise effectively and achieve results against deadlines.
  • Ability to engage with students.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team.

Desirable: 

  • Willingness to work towards a higher-level teaching qualification
  • Equine knowledge or experience
  • Ability to teach both Maths and English
  • Experience of working in specialist education
