Job description

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Fund Analyst is a key member of the Chase de Vere Investment Management Team. The team is responsible for managing £3bn of retail money in discretionary model portfolios and advises on a further £7bn.

The discretionary model portfolios hold around 80 open ended retail investment funds. Working closely with the 4 Investment Managers, the Fund Analyst’s primary responsibility will be the ongoing due diligence of many of these funds.

The Investment Management Team are responsible for the day to day management of the Select Portfolio Management Service and the construction and delivery of the Bespoke Fund Panels. Based in the Edinburgh and Bath offices they work very closely with various internal departments and provide support for Chase de Vere’s advisers and paraplanners on fund and investment related queries.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED


Experience:

  • Previous experience of working in a role analysing retail investment funds
  • Previous experience in a role carrying out due diligence with Fund Managers on a face to face basis
  • Previous experience of roles with a strong compliance and regulatory focus
  • A comprehensive understanding of the financial services sector and regulatory context
  • Experience of using the investment analysis platform Morningstar Direct to a good standard

Skills:

  • The ability to use Excel to a good standard
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • The ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive, resilient and flexible approach to work.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and planning skills
  • Highly numerate and literate with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good presentation skills
  • The ability to work well within a team environment and build effective working relationships both internally and externally

Qualifications:

  • Relevant industry qualifications will be an advantage

WHAT YOUR ROLE WILL INVOLVE

The Fund Analyst’s primary responsibility will be the ongoing due diligence of many of the 80 retail investment funds held within the Discretionary Model Portfolios.

This incorporates the following responsibilities:

  • To arrange and host the annual due diligence meetings with all the relevant Fund Managers
  • To accurately record, in writing, the discussions and outputs from the annual due diligence meetings, in accordance with Chase de Vere’s internal due diligence process.
  • To maintain accurate due diligence records and make recommendations to the Investment team based on the information discussed with the Fund Managers.
  • To update the internal fund due diligence reports in order to maintain an accurate audit trail and ensure the due diligence record keeping is up to date.
  • To ensure all the investment funds within the Discretionary Model Portfolio’s comply with the internal Chase de Vere fund selection rules.
  • To discuss the findings from the due diligence meetings with the Investment Managers and present
  • To present findings and outputs from the due diligence activity to the Investment Team, making recommendations and forming a ‘view’ on an appropriate course of action.
  • To actively participate in team meetings, including providing input into discussions regarding funds, portfolios and asset allocation.
  • To be actively involved in the broader day to day tasks undertaken by the Investment Team as required, including responding to adviser queries, investment writing for marketing material, and maintaining process documents.
