SalaryAs a local Funding Officer, for this particular role you will ideally live in Somerset or within easy reach. You will work mainly within Somerset but also supporting more widely across the South West region as needed.
•You will work closely with community groups and organisations across Somerset to understand what matters to them and identify where our funding can make the biggest difference.
•You will learn to assess a high volume of applications, make good judgements, challenge when appropriate and manage risk.
•You will visit community groups to gather information about their ideas and make recommendations, write reports and take applications and awards through our grant making processes.
As well as a passion for supporting local communities to thrive, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be great at listening and have strong analytical skills. You will also have the ability to develop strong and productive relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
Travel will be part of the role and you will work from home, with some meetings face to face throughout the year.
Interview Date: Wednesday 14th February at our Exeter Office.
Location: Home working with regular travel to locations across Somerset and to our Exeter Hub and elsewhere within the South West region as needed.

Basis: Full time – 37 hours a week, would consider part time, minimum 4 days a week (30 hours)

Essential criteria:
•Communication skills: Strong listening, written and verbal communication with an emphasis on written communication for assessment purposes.
•Analytical skills: Ability to assess a high volume of applications, make good judgements, challenge when appropriate and manage risk.
•Relational skills: Ability to build, develop and promote effective relationships with colleagues, community organisations and other external agencies with a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.
•Knowledge of the needs and priorities of communities in Somerset, especially under-represented groups.
Desirable criteria
•Demonstrable sound IT skills, in particular Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn detailed processes quickly and accurately.
•An ability to use your initiative and manage your own workload and time, meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
•Understanding of financial planning and business plans, ability to analyse accounts and numerical data.
•An understanding of the local voluntary, community and social enterprise sector.
