Fundraiser/Bid Writer
A Worcester based charity that takes over 270 bookings weekly from people with disabilities and additional needs who benefit from their multi-sensory services is looking for a Fundraiser/Bid Writer to join their team.
The charity aims to enhance health and wellbeing and bring happiness through offering specialist leisure therapy activities.
The charity has been running since 1993 and the centre has developed around the needs of their members. Hydrotherapy, 4 differing multi-sensory rooms, soft play, music, arts, yoga and play therapy are all offered onsite as well as group activities in community venues.
This post is integral to the running of the charity and will involve bid writing, community fundraising and seeking fundraising opportunities. The post holder will work alongside the Data Impact officer, Chief Officer and Finance. Training in Fundraising, charity finance and other associated subjects can be offered as applicable.
Key Tasks within this role:
- Working closely with Chief Officer, Finance, Data Impact Officer and Operational Teams. Stakeholder and community engagement – meetings, presentations, correspondence – representing the charity at external and internal events and meetings.
- Developing and maintaining fundraising database and schedules. Preparing project plans, budgets, and proposals.
- Applying for grants & fundraising initiatives both capital and core cost applications.
- Preparation of shared restricted fund spreadsheet with cashflow, and subsequent inputting data on restricted funds awarded. Contribution to the charity’s annual budget forecast, particularly in relation to fundraised income and associated expenditure.
- Keeping up to date with developments in fundraising law and practice.
- Experience in charity finance
- undraising Plans – development, and prospect research
- Grant fundraising both capital and core cost– including development of relationships with funders as main point of contact; preparing proposals and supporting budgets; submitting applications including to national lottery funders, trusts & foundations, local authority; administering grant drawdowns and reporting.
- Fundraising in other areas - corporates, community, challenge events, in memorium/legacies, individual donors.
- Experience in evaluation & reporting on projects.
- Event planning and organisation.
- Working with trustees & Chief Officer to review and update policies relating to fundraising
- To keep up to date with all Worcester Snoezelen Policies and procedures.
- To have an Enhanced DBS check as a condition of employment.
- Participate in team and Worcester Snoezelen events.
- Participate in training – including Understanding Autism; Data Protection; Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Children; Health & Safety; and The Rank Foundation’s own programme of Leadership training and support.
- Attend staff meetings and trustee meetings when requested.
- Attend supervisions and appraisals
- To undertake any other duties which reasonably fall under the role of a Worcester Snoezelen charity employee.
Essential
- Educated to degree level or with equivalent professional experience.
- A good understanding of equality and diversity issues
- Experience of successful bid writing/fundraising
- Knowledge of third sector/ independent charities.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, and ability to communicate with diverse audiences
- Excellent analytical and presentation skills
- Good command of English language – spoken and written
- Numerate
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Good planning and organising skills
- Ability to engage and build effective relationships with stakeholders quickly
