Location: The post will be based primarily at our head office, currently Victoria, London (please note we are due move to another London location from April 2024). There will be the need for regular home working and visits to Redthread’s main offices and other projects and activities that take place at various locations across London and the UK.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
Salary: £43,079 per annum + benefits (includes £3,300 London Weighting)

Purpose of the Post
To lead on Redthread’s fundraising from charitable trusts and foundations, building a diverse, engaged portfolio to ensure Redthread can achieve its objectives and empower young people to thrive.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Lead on Redthread’s fundraising from trusts and foundations as set out in the organisation’s fundraising strategy, meeting ambitious targets for funding.
Manage and maintain an active pipeline of funding opportunities, making decisions on priorities, timing and level of ask for applications.
Research, prepare and create original, compelling proposals, typically for over £20,000 per year, skilfully matching projects to funder priorities and objectives.
Manage the portfolio of grant funders giving: cultivate positive professional relationships and provide exemplary stewardship.
Prepare, compile and create inspiring reports to funders in a timely manner, working with Data and Insights and Services teams to interpret and present monitoring data and evidence of impact, specific to particular grant agreements.
Work with the Head of Finance to maintain core project budgets, compiling more bespoke budgets as needed to suit funder requirements.
Support the Head of Fundraising and Fundraising Manager (Statutory) with strategic proposals to high-value charitable or statutory partners, for new service developments.
Represent Redthread at funder meetings or on visits to project locations, introducing them to other members of Redthread’s staff team or Board as appropriate.
Line-manage a Fundraising Officer (Trusts) (and other roles as necessary), supporting them to fulfil their roles effectively.
Support Redthread’s use of the CRM (currently Donorfy) and ensure the compliance of fundraising data and activities with all relevant legislation.
Work with the Head of Fundraising to develop key performance indicators for relevant streams of activity, monitor performance and oversee activity relating to those streams.
Support the wider activities of the fundraising team, fundraising events and fundraising, including the maintenance and growth of the regular supporter network, and to assist in promoting the organisation’s work with young people to the wider community.
Be an active, engaged member of the Fundraising and Development teams, collaborating closely with colleagues, ensuring cohesion across funding streams, sharing learning and resources, and supporting each other’s development. Reporting regularly to the team, the Leadership team, or the wider organisation, as appropriate.
Support the Head of Fundraising to promote the importance of fundraising across the organisation, supporting fundraising inductions and shadowing for other members of staff and presenting in all team meetings.
Maintain excellent knowledge of the external environment, keeping up to date with relevant funding and development trends, opportunities, and risks as well as sector developments including health, criminal justice and voluntary sectors. Ensure that it informs our strategic development.
Contribute to the developing fundraising strategy.
General responsibilities of all Redthread staff
Actively participate in staff meetings, session evaluations, supervision/reviews, and planning sessions and in Redthread’s overall development, including input on the needs of young people, ideas for new projects, and the on-going development of existing projects.
Assist in maintaining good working relations with Redthread’s stakeholders, project partners and with other agencies and represent Redthread at external meetings as required.
Encourage and enable young people to participate in all forms of decision-making and management of Redthread’s projects, with the ultimate aim of empowering them to shape the services and activities provided for them. To ensure that all young people have equality of access and that the programme promotes opportunities for all young people.
Assist the team in ensuring that all Redthread policies and procedures are followed, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Data Protection and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Report any concerns to an appropriate member of the Leadership Team.
Work as a member of the Redthread team and assist as required across all the organisation’s projects, carrying out any other duties that may be required to meet the needs of the organisation.
