Job description

Fundraising Lead

  • Part time (3.5 days) £40,981 - £45,534 pro rataThis position is offered on a part time basis of 24.5 hours (3.5 days). The hours may be worked over 4 or 5 days to suit the candidate. The role is offered on a one-year fixed term basis, with the potential for renewal.

Job Purpose

  • To work with the Chief Executive to develop and implement a strategy for the growth of unrestricted income across all channels.
  • To increase the number of regular donors to Manchester Care and Repair.
  • To broaden the funding mix by introducing and developing ‘new to us’ fundraising channels in the public, events and corporate spaces.
  • To deliver an engaging fundraising and donor engagement offer that inspires existing contacts and connects with new audiences.
  • To deliver substantial additional un-restricted income for the Charity.

Up to now most of Manchester Care and Repair’s organisational income has come from either Large Statutory contracts or Trusts and foundations. The Chief Executive and the Business Development Officer are actively engaged and pretty successful in this space.

We have a relatively small number of committed givers (individuals and local businesses) and a large number of people who make one off small donations (many of them clients and their families). We also have an established a Winter Appeal that attracts both new and regular donors.

As an organisation we have a lot of supporters in the wider health and social care system and there is substantial scope for engaging these people as donors.

Our location (sandwiched between the corporate hotspots of Manchester City Centre and Trafford Park) and our focus on supporting Manchester Residents suggests opportunities to engage with corporate organisations who want to give something back in their locality.

We serve large numbers of older clients across Manchester and have some relationships with local community groups such as the ‘Good Neighbours’ organisational network, and, with the right support, there is potential to harness the energy and goodwill of these people in the community fundraisers space.

We have some fairly simple fundraising infrastructure and donor engagement processes in place, but we are looking to update and extend these.

We have never had a professional fundraiser in post and so most of our potential for raising funds from our supporters, the public, and the corporate world remains untapped.  We are also planning to move premises in the next 18 months so you might also get to try your hand at some capital appeal fundraising.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to build our fundraising ecosystem and grow our supporter base.
