About us
The National Football Museum is England’s only cultural organisation dedicated to the people’s game. Based in Manchester’s iconic Urbis building, it’s home to the world’s largest and finest collection of football artefacts and archives, consisting of over 40,000 items.
Known as the Football Heritage Collection, around 2,500 objects are on display at any one time, taking visitors through a century of football history, from the first international match in 1872, up to the present day.
As a key cultural institution and registered charity, the National Football Museum exists to protect the heritage of England’s national game and highlight the significant contribution it’s made to international sport and culture.
