Job description

Our client is an established family run undertaker based in the Hastings and Rother area. They are currently recruiting for a Funeral Directorto join their dedicated team.

The ideal candidate will possess demonstrable experience in a similar position, hold A Levels, business studies qualification or Funeral Directing qualification, have a good attention to detail and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. As a Funeral Director you will meet with families and representatives of the deceased to organise funerals, give advice about options available and duties regarding registration of death.  You will liaise with members of the team as well as doctors, mortuary staff, coroner’s department, crematorium and cemetery authorities to provide funeral information and coordinate the relevant parties.

The ideal candidate will hold the following skills and experiences:

  • Possess A Levels, business studies qualification or Funeral Directing qualification
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an office environment and managing people
  • Have a good attention to detail
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have strong computer skills including Libre Office, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to easily travel to Bexhill and Battle and be able to participate in on-call rota during unsocial hours

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience of working in a caring industry e.g. GP practice, health care setting etc.
  • Possess own car and clean driving licence

Your duties as a Funeral Director will include:

  • Carry out the duties of a Funeral Director, supporting and advising clients
  • Meeting with families, executors, solicitors and representatives of the deceased to organise funerals, giving advice about options available and duties regarding registration of death
  • Communicate with team members concerning the deceased, ensuring all necessary tasks are performed well to enable the company to complete the funeral efficiently and with dignity
  • Liaising with doctors, mortuary staff, coroner’s department, clergy, crematorium and cemetery authorities, gravediggers, etc. to provide funeral information and co-ordinate the relevant parties
  • Inputting funeral information on the company funeral administration system and to produce invoices as appropriate
  • Follow up the disposal of cremation ashes and memorial sales
  • Participate in the out-of-hours telephone and removal rota, taking business calls from nursing homes and families about the removal of a deceased person to company premises, attending on call-outs to remove the deceased back to the chapel of rest and answering any enquiries
  • Any other relevant duties as agreed with the MD

Salary:

£27,000 per annum

Hours:

Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5pm
