Job description

Fixed Term (- March 2027) Closing Date:  23.59 hours GMT on Friday 16 February 2024 The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research. We are ambitious and have a bold vision - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world - which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee. Working within our highly successful Advancement team, we have an exciting new opportunity to join us as the Project Manager of our Future Leaders Alumni Programme. The role of Advancement is to work with the academic community to engage alumni, friends, companies, and trusts in support of the University. The Future Leaders Alumni Programme aims to foster meaningful and enduring connections among our alumni, empowering them to become influential leaders in their respective fields and make a positive impact on society. This innovative new programme will develop impactful alumni engagement activities such as professional development events and leadership talks, webinars, and networking opportunities. The role In the role of Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the planning and successful implementation of the Future Leaders Alumni Programme. You’ll manage the progress of the programme, keeping things on track and working to timelines and to budget. You’ll increase engagement with the programme, developing and implementing communications strategies, activities, and events that keep our alumni informed and engaged with programme aims. You’ll also work to monitor and evaluate the programme, creating reports and using data analytics to regularly assess programme success. You’ll look for ways to innovate and improve, introducing new approaches to alumni engagement and event management for better outcomes. About you We’re looking for someone with proven experience in project management, event planning, and/or alumni relations who is able to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment. Highly organised, you will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and will be able to multitask and deliver to deadlines. Knowledge of alumni best practice would be a real advantage, as would a background in higher education or a similar institutional setting (although this is not necessary). It is also desirable that the successful candidate is familiar with alumni relations software (e.g. Raiser’s Edge/NXT database). The role will involve some work outside of regular hours supporting events in the evenings and at weekends, so some flexibility will be needed. Further Information To apply please submit a CV via the ‘Apply’ button above. You will also be asked some brief questions to help us understand your suitability for the role. For more information about the role please contact Lucy Evans, Alumni Engagement and Operations Manager, via l.a.evans@surrey.ac.uk First stage interviews will be held on campus 29th February and 1st March. The University of Surrey is committed to providing an inclusive environment that offers equal opportunities for all. We value everyone in our community and are seeking to increase the diversity. Therefore, we particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups, such as people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and people with disabilities.
