Hours: Shifts are 8 hours (8:15-16:45) with a 30-minute lunch break - The office is open 7 days a week.

Location: Thames Valley Park, Reading (Fully Office-Based)

Start: ASAP

Are you looking for flexible, occasional work to fit around an existing part-time role or personal commitments? Are you currently studying and looking to supplement your income? Are you interested in acquiring games-industry experience? Our client, based just outside Reading, has a continuous need for temporary Games Testers to ensure video games meet the standard required for release. We are seeking to increase our pool of temps who are available for this role.

This an entirely office-based role as much of the client's work is confidential and must be carried out in a secure test lab, but the office the role is based in has lots of amenities such as an onsite cafeteria, free parking and a complementary shuttle bus from the town centre.

The workload is variable so there are no guaranteed shifts with this assignment. Furthermore, you must live within a 1-hour's travel of the office to allow for last minute changes. Shifts are offered with 1-day's notice and their frequency will vary week-to-week and month-to-month although if you perform well in the role, it is possible to be requested on a regular basis.

As our client is open 7 days a week, a successful candidate needs to be available to work both weekends and weekdays, but please note that the cafeteria and shuttle bus do not operate at the weekends.

Duties include:

  • Following test steps and investigating issues.
  • Writing reports and communicating test results.
  • Escalating issues to your team lead.
  • Supporting the wider team.

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, time management and organisation.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team with a positive, pro-active attitude and strong desire to learn.
  • Computer literacy and IT competence, particularly MS Excel and Word.
  • Flexibility regarding shift availability.
  • Interest in video games and game development is vital for this role but prior games/software testing experience is not required.

Requirements:

  • Must be over 18 due to age-rating restrictions of the products tested.
  • Must be available to work weekends (at least occasionally).
  • Must have experience of playing video games and operating both recent gen games consoles and computers. This knowledge is essential for the role.
  • Must be based within 1 hour's commute of the work location.
  • You must have access to a dual-analog stick controller as part of the recruitment process. You can borrow one from a friend if you do not own one, but we will need to witness you using it during a video call one before we can add you to the pool.

Please note:

  • If successful, you will be added to a pool of temps who are resourced for this role one day at a time rather than placed into a specific long or short term assignment.
  • You will not be required to accept any offered shifts, but are you not guaranteed to be offered any either.
  • Shifts will be offered to you as and when available in line with the availability you share, your current level of training and performance feedback.
  • We cannot endorse relocating for this role due to the inconsistent nature of shifts. If you currently live more than 1 hour from TVP but are intending to move closer for a reason other than this role, please state this clearly in your application.

If you are interested, please apply online to be considered. If you are unable to submit a CV online, please email . Please do not call the office number regarding this opportunity.
