Due to our client's rapid business growth we have an exciting opportunity for a Garment Technologist to support the team in the UK and Ireland.
The role is based in the London UK Design & Marketing office for a well-established global fashion supplier on some fantastic high-street accounts.
This is a fabulous opportunity to bring your in-depth expertise and technical know-how to support this expanding business and help to grow the capability and accuracy of remote teams in Bangladesh.
The role will include extensive travel to Dhaka to build capability and the team there, including helping to onboard and train two recently recruited Garment Techs.
Hybrid work option of 1 day a week remote
Main Responsibilities Will Include:
- Liaising with clients, including attending fit sessions (physical and virtual), and clarifying fit comments
- Interpret all requirements and fit comments for key team members in Bangladesh and ensure clarity on requirements or next steps
- Prepare and submit all fit samples, including checking measurements and submission labels, ensuring correct upload of workbooks, and checking for quality
- Follow and manage the Critical Path
- Review Tech Packs before sampling to pre-empt issues
- Work with in-house Clo3D designers and pattern makers to create 3D representations of key styles/blocks in appropriate fabrics
- Build a library of approved patterns/blocks across fabrics and shapes from which new designs can be generated by our designers
- Support production and buying teams on any technical construction issues, including problem solving any mass production issues
- Conducting ad hoc project work such as competitor analysis to support growth into new product types
Person Specifications:
- Experienced (5+ years) in a Garment Technologist role with a deep understanding of pattern, construction, grading, different fabrics, shapes and fits
- Experience in women's casual jersey/leisure products is essential. Experience in casual wovens and other categories (men's, kids) is useful
- Experience working with factories/production teams in Bangladesh preferred
- Good with email communication and online portals, with strong attention to detail
- Experience of managing indirect reports in remote locations preferred
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced business to meet key deadlines
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem solving and a 'can do' attitude
