Exciting opportunity for a Gas Trading Operations Business Analyst to join this global Energy company. As a Gas Business Analyst, you will support the Energy business working in projects for Trading focusing on Gas trading activities. Your role will vary depending on your project(s), typically you would perform the following • Translate business requirements into functionality and assess the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options. • Outline the scope of IT delivery and provide a high-level solution design.• Responsible for Gas Ops System configuration and process improvement.• Assess and model processes, data flows, and technology to understand the current value and issues, and identify opportunities for improvement.• Propose designs / solutions which contribute to project delivery performance and co-ordinate input to devise project test strategy• Take responsibility for training colleagues on business process flow.• Interact with multiple IT delivery partners to understand software limitations, deliver application designs, and ensure that business requirements, use cases are handled in Agile manner• Building relationships with key stakeholders, keeping them informed, managing expectations, develop trust, respect, and credibility• Able to link technical solutions with business strategy when working with business partners.• Serves as an SME for specific tools, techniques, or business areas. Share knowledge to wider team.What we need from you• Experience of energy trading markets, with a strong understanding of UK and European Gas markets, including gas networks, Storages, balancing, scheduling, capacity, transportation, pricing, position, P&L and exposure management. • Experience and strong understanding of Transmission System Operations, Distribution System Operations and Physical Gas Flow.• Proficient Technical knowledge including Databases, Data Analysis, SQL and Power BI• A working knowledge of different trading instruments, including:oOTC transactions - Including forwards, storage, swing deals, swaps, and simple optionsoExchange traded futures & options lifecycle including cascading. • Practical experience in Gas Operation Systems like MTS, CodeRunner, GMSL and EuroRunner. Experience in application configurations. • Hands-on experience with ETRM Systems, particularly Aligne and Endur.• Detailed knowledge of at least one of the following functional areas:oFront Office - complex deal modelling, pricing, P&L and exposure management oMiddle Office - Market Risk and Risk ValuationoBack-Office - Confirmations and Settlements processes and/or accounting processes• Track record of end-to-end project lifecycle delivery as a BA • Experience working in Agile project DeliveryThis needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
