Our client is recruiting a Gas Supervisorsto join their Repairs team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business to deliver property maintenance services, undertaking repair activities predominantly within customer’s homes, but also voids and for other clients as required.

About them:

Our client is one of the largest registered providers of social housing in the North West, with 35,000 properties across the region employing over 1,000 colleagues. .

The reapirs team is in house contractor (DLO) and are one of the largest contractors in the area. They deliver a high-quality flexible service to their customers ensuring their homes remain fit for the future.

They are recruiting a Gas Supervisors to cover repairs or voids across the Greater Manchester area providing all day-to-day repairs and vacant properties repairs, of their customers.

As Gas Supervisor you will ensure that the standards of property maintenance services are delivered in line with their groups key performance indicators. You will also ensure that standards are consistently met and all legal and statutory requirements are met whist working in customer homes.

Suitable candidate will also carryout repairs when needed as part of this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery

In line with Repairs specification or approved best practice, assess, coordinate and undertake the most cost effective Gas repair solution ensuring value for money. Organising materials, providing detailed information, effectively communicating with customers, other stakeholders and colleagues to deliver a high quality service.

Ensure an adequate store of materials are available to operatives, including van based stock. Proactively organise workload and commitments to ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective service at all times.

  • Customer Service

To provide excellent customer service whilst ensuring prompt work of the required standard.

  • Liaison and technical advice

Liaise with clients, customers and colleagues regarding access, safe working practices, and assessment of repairs requirements and progress of repairs.

  • Quality

Ensure all work is delivered to a high standard.

  • Records

To complete jobs on PDA’s and maintain other records as required including access details, materials used, job progression and follow on information.

  • Health and Safety

Undertake work activities in line with all health and safety requirements demonstrating a sound working knowledge of key legislative health and safety information and safe working practices. Assisting the promotion of Health & Safety.

  • Work equipment

Operation of light machinery, plant and powered hand tools in accordance with recognised safety procedures. To be responsible for the safe use and daily maintenance of allocated Company vehicles.

  • Line Management

Provide line management cover to the team, managing resources to ensure that objectives are achieved, in the absence of the Team Leader.

What do they require?

Essential

  • Experience of gas systems and working within a commercial and domestic property maintenance environment.
  • Experience of working in a customer environment.
  • Track record of completing Gas Servicing programmes.
  • Proven ability to deliver a quality customer centred repairs service.
  • Experience of working in a target driven environment.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations, ACOPS relevant to the post and associated tasks undertaken within it, in line with HASAWA 1974.

Desirable:

  • Supervisory experience and experience of working within a commercial and domestic property maintenance environment.
  • Experience of delivering services within the social housing sector.
  • Experience of using PDA technology (hand held/mobile working technology).

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Qualified to City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 (recognised Gas trade qualification).
  • Qualified to work with Central heating, Water heaters, Cookers, Pipe work, unvented hot water, (formally ACOPS 1-14).
  • Qualified Gas Safe Engineer (CCN1) - Install, Commission, Service, Safety Check Natural Gas and LPG and appropriate CSCS card.

Desirable

  • Hold relevant health & safety qualifications which relate to the sector.
  • Asbestos awareness training.
  • Relevant power tool, manual handling and appropriate training in COSHH & PPE.
  • Access equipment and working at height training e.g. mobile work platforms.

The role involves participation in an 'out of hours’ standby service on a rota basis as required, which includes evenings and weekend work. This is in addition to the contractual hours for which you will receive additional pay and compensation, details of which will be discussed at the interview.
