Job description

ECTA are searching for a highly motivated industry expert who has extensive knowledge of Gas Installations. This varied role will suit a highly driven, organised individual who wants to work as part of a close knit team and provide an opportunity to learn new skills.

Established in 2005, East Cheshire Training and Assessment (ECTA) is a National Trainer of operatives and operational staff within the Gas, Power, Utilities and Facilities Management Industries, headquartered in Stockport, Greater Manchester.

Due to targeted growth in our Gas programmes, we are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced gas engineer to work alongside our existing Gas and Apprenticeship assessors in carrying out training and assessment activity.

Your role will include:

  • Delivery of classroom based and practical training courses to learners
  • Identifying training needs analysis of individuals and organisations
  • Designing training programmes and learning resources in a variety of formats
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of training programmes and learning outcomes
  • To assess Gas knowledge, skills and behaviour for a caseload of learners
  • To carry out regular progress and target setting reviews for learners
  • To be proactively familiar with the assessment requirements of the Level 3 Gas Apprenticeship standards and to carry out and evidence assessments in accordance with established quality procedures
  • To maintain at all times close liaison with the employer to ensure that they are aware of the progress of the learners and in order to discuss and address any issues relating to the training
  • To follow and monitor Health and Safety procedures in line with contractual requirements to ensure maximum safety for all learners
  • To offer support, guidance and advice to learners during the programme where appropriate and to comply with ECTA’s safeguarding procedures and policies with respect to all learners
  • To undertake all required administrative practices and procedures in respect to tracking, recording and reporting on the progress of each learner or apprentice, in line with company quality systems and procedures
  • To undertake staff development or CPD activities as identified by ECTA
  • To comply with ECTA’s administrative, financial and quality procedures as required

Essential Requirements:

  • A strong gas background with experience of working in the domestic and/or commercial gas industry
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to tailor delivery to different audiences
  • Appropriate ACS gas qualifications
  • Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications.
  • Ability to become quickly conversant with the relevant Apprenticeship standards and assessment and evidence
  • Good core IT skills including the ability to work with email systems, internet and Microsoft Office packages including Excel and Word

Desired but not Essential:

  • Renewable Technology qualifications/accreditations
  • Experience of gas education and training, including the relevant apprenticeship schemes
  • An up to date understanding of the business and training needs of the gas sector
  • Apprenticeship Framework or Standards assessing experience
  • Training/Teaching and Assessor qualifications or experience would be an advantage, but not essential as training will be given.
